A little red streetcar
Well, maybe not red. But I remember years ago, arts patron Pat Corbett saying, why can't we get a little red streetcar to go between all the arts venues?
Now there is a real movement afoot to do that, with a light rail streetcar that would, perhaps, a three-mile loop around the city. The cost? Probably $100 million, say the promoters. But that investment, they say, will generate $2.8 BILLION in new development.
Their Web site is a bit bare, but there are some details there, if you care to take a look!
Let me know what you think! It all ties into the stories, below.

a street car is all well and good, but with that kind of pricetag!! why in the world can't we look at a simpler solution which would undoubtedly carry a much smaller price tag--like the trolley-like buses they use for sightseers in georgetown in washington.
surely even something closer to the southbank shuttle, with its handicapped-friendly, no-steps to get up mini-bus format would be a quicker, more economical way to solve the problem.
sometimes i think we get so hung up on trying to be "just perfect" in our solution that the actual problem just remains unresolved!
There has to be some entreprenurial type who sees the potential in providing this type of service and the possible corporate support it could receive. The Bounce Art Trolley or US Bank Gallery Hopper (witn onboard ATM machine) or the Skyline Shuttle seem to make sense...and could make dollars.
I think it should be called the Graeter's Express, and originate at the new Graeter's on Fountain Square...
