Music Hall wish list
Now that we've announced the consulting team that will make recommendations for redoing Music Hall, what would you like to see? More leg room in seating? Bigger and better concessions -- with real food, like the Met has? An upstairs, upscale cafe? A wine bar? Cup holders? More glamorous public spaces? Let me know!!

janelle,
this may seem like a minor thing, given all the great ideas you've mentioned, but as someone who is recovering from a stroke (with a personal goal of attending the CSO's opening night), it would be great to have some more places to sit and rest in the elm street end of the south corridor. at the moment, all i can remember there being is a single bench, seating about 4, above the stairs leading to the ladies' restroom. if memory serves me right, i think a few years ago there was at least one, maybe two, other benches in that area. one, for sure, was located about 10 or 12 feet across from the bottom of the escalators.
i know this may seem like a minor thing if you are able-bodied, but when you have mobility and stamina issues it can be very important in determining whether or not you can take advantage of things like after-concert CD signings and such where the waiting time can be rather long or, perhaps, in whether or not you choose to go at all.
with the graying of the classical audience and seeing more and more patrons using canes, it would seem like a simple, but important amenity to provide. and one, as well, which would be greatly appreciated, i am sure!
Thanks Sandye, that's an excellent suggestion for people of any age, from children on up. I too seem to recall more benches in the halls... it got really bad when the Thursday night crowd was sitting all over the floor in the hallways, eating their buffet dinners on paper plates! Thank goodness they moved the preconcert dinners into the Ballroom!
