Cleveland's star concertmaster under fire
I guess what really bothers me about this gossipy article in the free weekly Cleveland Scene this week about concertmaster William Preucil, is that Rebecca's Meiser's allegations are largely based on unnamed sources. Should a publication accuse someone of a sex scandal at a major conservatory of music, CIM -- with the picturesque description of a "lewd advance" -- and power plays behind the scenes of a major symphony orchestra, using so many unnamed people, such as "a member of the orchestra"? Even if it's true? Take a look at the 229 comments, too, and weigh in here!

I read the piece out of Cleveland... What a presumptuous pain in the ass is this guy... I'm sorry, nerds with instruments have no cause for arrogance...
What about nerds at advertising firms?
I can't agree with you on your points. First off, the reason the student's identity is being left out of the article is so that she can live a peaceful life, and not have a biased Preucil friend on a jury vote against her at some audition she might take. If you are in the Cleveland circle, it is pretty easy to find out who this student is. Secondly, this article does nothing but state the facts on Preucil has gotten his family members and friends into the orchestra. Every major orchestra audition uses a screen between audition candidates and jury in order to do away with any bias that the jury might have. At the Cleveland Orchestra auditions this however is not the case. They do not use a screen at all. Furthermore, anything in the article that was untrue, could be reason for a lawsuit. I am sure the newspaper met with a legal team and discuss the material they had in order to publish this story such as proof that CIM shipped this student that was vicitimized by Preucil off to an East Coast conservatory paying her full tuition, so on and so forth.
