Performing Arts Centers in the burbs
What did you think of Sunday's story about the push in Warren County for a new arts center? Besides Blue Ash, Anderson Township is planning a grand opening in January of its new facility for township offices, community television, and a performing arts theater for the Beechmont Players, Forest-Aires and other groups...
Do all of these new arts centers present more opportunity (as venues for regional touring; creating more awareness for arts) or do they just create more competition for Music Hall and its tenants such as the CSO and opera?

The Sunday article gave a 1000 capacity which is too small for our World Class CSO, so we have to still bring folks into town. With growth in that suburb it would be great to have Ballet, even Cinti Chamber Orch to come and fill the new hall. Anything to get all of us to support the Arts and Music. That is the future for our children......

On my budget at least, you won't find me trekking out to the suburbs for arts when there's already so much high-quality stuff going on right here in town. I'm already dumping a hefty portion of my disposable income into CSO and CCO, with whom I am quite satisfied.
That said, I think it's great that the fine arts are spreading out. I grew up way out in the country and know what it's like to live in a cultural black hole. The closer you are to the kinds of cultural things that make our civilization great, the better.

We join you, 'Clifton resident' in being at MHall every Sat. night at CSO, but visualize the Warren Cty residents who could bring their kids to a LIVE performance within 10 min. of their home. Maybe some have never had that chance to bring a carload of kids to see our Ballet. Would be a treat to start them on a great cultural venture that would last for years. HOPEFULLY. eM=M
